WARNING: The risk of loss in trading futures contracts can be substantial. You should therefore carefully consider whether such trading is suitable for you in light of your financial condition. You may sustain losses in excess of your initial deposit.
1. Risk of Loss
The risk of loss in trading futures contracts can be substantial. Before deciding to trade, you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. The possibility exists that you could sustain a loss of some or all of your initial deposit and therefore you should not invest money that you cannot afford to lose.
2. Leverage and Margin
Trading futures involves the use of leverage. A relatively small market movement may have a proportionately larger impact on the funds you have deposited as margin. You may sustain a total loss of margin funds and may be required to deposit additional margin funds to maintain your positions. If you fail to deposit additional funds within the time required, your positions may be liquidated at a loss, and you will be liable for any resulting deficit in your account.
3. Market Volatility
Futures markets can be highly volatile. Prices may move rapidly and substantially against you, particularly in response to economic data releases, geopolitical events, monetary policy decisions, or unexpected market events. Stop-loss orders may not always limit losses to the intended amounts due to market gaps or illiquidity.
4. Liquidity Risk
Market conditions (e.g. illiquidity) and/or the operation of the rules of certain markets may increase the risk of loss by making it difficult or impossible to effect transactions or liquidate/offset positions. In such circumstances, you may not be able to close your positions at the desired price.
5. Electronic Trading Risks
Trading on an electronic trading system may differ from trading on other electronic trading systems and from trading in a conventional open outcry market. If you undertake transactions on an electronic trading system, you will be exposed to risks associated with the system including the failure of hardware and software. The result of any system failure may be that your order is either not executed according to your instructions or is not executed at all.
6. Foreign Markets and Currency Risk
Foreign markets will involve different risks from local markets. The potential for profit or loss from transactions on foreign markets or in foreign-denominated contracts will be affected by fluctuations in foreign exchange rates. Different jurisdictions have different regulations and protections for investors.
7. Commission and Other Charges
Before you begin to trade, you should obtain a clear explanation of all commission, fees and other charges for which you will be liable. These charges will affect your net profit (if any) or increase your loss.
8. No Guarantee of Profit
Past performance is not indicative of future results. There is no guarantee that any trading strategy will achieve its objective. Any research, analysis, market commentary or trading recommendations provided by the Company are for informational purposes only and do not constitute investment advice.
9. Suitability
Futures trading is not suitable for all investors. You should only trade with funds that you can afford to lose. If you are unsure whether futures trading is suitable for you, you should seek independent professional advice.
10. Suspension or Restriction of Trading
Market conditions (e.g. illiquidity) and/or the operation of the rules of certain markets (e.g. the suspension of trading in any contract or contract month because of price limits or "circuit breakers") may increase the risk of loss.
11. Counterparty and Clearing House Risk
Although exchanges have clearing houses that act as central counterparties, there remains a residual risk of counterparty default. In extreme circumstances, this could affect your positions and the recovery of your funds.
